  •  LWML advisor, Adrian, Michigan, 1985 – 1986.
  • Member of the Abbotsford School District Human Growth and Development Committee, 2002-2003 setting standards for discussion and teaching of human physiology, biology and sexuality at all levels of the local school system. I was the sole clergy member on the committee.
  • Published “Words of Faith,” a newspaper column answering questions sent in by readers and/or writing about current events and how to understand them within the context of the Christian faith. Originally begun in Iron County, Michigan, the idea was resurrected and continued at the current parish. Readership continues to expand.
  • Helping Hands for Eastern Europe. This is a locally originated mission and ministry to two orphanages, and three nursing homes in Western Bulgaria, as well as a home care and internet program. The program originated with a member of my former congregation in Abbotsford, Linda Phillips, who served as a medical missionary there for three and one half years under WELS. The WELS discontinued their support of the institutions and we picked it up. Power Point presentation is available.
  • I was awarded the “Spiritual Leader of the Year” Shining Star Award from the Wisconsin Health Care Association in 2004 for my work with a local nursing home. The award was granted because of the regular work with the dying and also with the elderly who had suicidal tendencies because of a sense of hopelessness in the nursing home. I was able to give them hope and purpose by helping them understand how God works through each of us regardless of our situations, even when things feel hopeless. God has blessed me with a unique ability to call upon specifics in my education and use them to aid His people when they are hurting.
  • Member of Faith Lutheran Church. Adult Bible teacher.
